Crazy Times

Category : Website Updates

The main purpose of this note is simply to wish everyone good health “until we meet again”, very shortly, at Estling. With water-on scheduled for April 12th campers will be in residence soon. Scott is monitoring the weather and may turn on the water slightly before April 12th. He will keep us posted if this is possible.

With the measures being taken around the Corona virus, including the CDC advising no gatherings of more than 50 people for the next 8 weeks and the federal government advising no meeting of more than 10 people for the next 15 days, I am thankful that we still have a few months before our summer begins. These guidelines will hopefully be less severe by then.

I will refrain from turning this note into a newsletter with updates on various ELC subjects, but I do want to let you know that the second of three reports undertaken by consultants to NJ Transit has been submitted to the NJ DEP and posted to our website. The Estling Lake Dam Spillway and Embankment Stability Evaluation concludes that the railroad embankment and the spillway could fail under certain stress test conditions. The consultants recommend that the risks be considered and a plan developed to reduce these risks. We should have more specific information this summer.

That’s it for now. Do take care!
-Rick

Message from Bob Reitwiesner

Category : General

On behalf of Maureen, myself and my entire family I want to extend many many thanks to the Estling Lake Community for its overwhelming thoughtfulness in remembrance of Jim. It was great to see so many of you again despite the compressed timeframe we were working under in arranging the Services. Many who were unable to attend relayed their thoughts through other campers and in other ways. In all, it meant a lot to myself and my family. Estling Lake was Jim’s “happy place” and his comfort zone in dealing with his illness. You all contributed to that feeling by offering help when he needed it and including him in many social events. Sending him off in such a special way was truly a gesture of friendship and an example of how close the Estling Lake Community is. I hope to see more of you in the coming months and wish you all a wonderful 2019 Summer season at Estling.

We’ll be having another service for her in NJ in the upcoming weeks. I’m grateful for family, friends, my brother Dan Mertens and his wife Terry, my wife Heather Otto and all of my mother’s friends here in NC for all their love and support. Thank you to everyone who reached out to us- your kind words mean the world to me.

Hub Lakes Boosters

Category : Sports

Dear Camper,

The water is on, so now its time to think about summer at Estling. A good start is to show a little love to Hub Lakes. Your support pays for playoff officials and trophies – mainly for all those medals and ribbons that kids get.  The booklet is again on the web, so all that sports information will be at your fingertips via your smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop; try it out at hub-lakes.com.

Each summer we enjoy the inter-lake sports events sponsored by Hub Lakes. Like any organization, the League is only as strong as its supporters. Estling has consistently shown its support by purchasing more “Booster Ads” than the other lakes. Let’s continue the tradition.

Please support our Estling athletes. Please send your ad money by May 31.

Thanks for your support.

Glen

The repairs are complete and the water is now on for the 2019 season. There are some spots we will need to monitor over the next few weeks but at this time the line is fully pressurized. Thank you to all the volunteers that came out today to help!
